My family and I have raised pure-bred Vizsla's, have 4 show champions, one of which was a national field champion, dual champion, and master hunter. I worked in Interventional Radiology and Interventional Neuroradiology for 15 years and have also worked in Cardiac Cath. Chana M., May 25, 2009, 9:02PM EDTDana, on Joan Armatrading, she has brought me through so many points of my life. She was there when I was happy, sad and once when I had a break up she helped me gain perspective. I really can't say enough about her music. She is one of those artists that really speak to a woman's heart and soul. Their is nothing generic about her. Check out her live performance video's on youtube. Let me know what you think. I hope you are well and the newish job is going good. Chana

Chana M., Apr 23, 2009, 1:20PM EDTDana, Maybe the poem is something that was and something I wish to be. I don't know the Pacific only having been there once, but grew up on the atlantic and when the beach is empty by yourself or with another it is truly magical. Chana

Denis Carter, Dec 22, 2008, 8:30AM ESTHello, I love the same books, so I'll make some recommendations for some excellent books. "Angelique" by Sergeanne Golon...don't let the bodice ripper cover fool you. This is historical romance at it's best, and if you like that one, there's like 9 more in the series...all excellent. Very hard to find except on EBAY or abebooks. They were written in something like 27 languages, so this just goes to show how good they really were. Written by a husband and wife team, Serge and Anne Golon...hence Sergeanne. they are considered national treasures in their native France. Anne is still alive and finishing the last trio of the series...I'm praying that they are translated because if not, I'll be brushing up on my H.S> french for the next 2 years. C'est pas impossible, mais c'est beaucoup de travail. Translation: in case you never took french ("It's possible, but it will be a lot of work". Don't let my H.S. French teacher read that last comment. I'm positive that I misconjugated a verb or worse!
"The Last Convertible" by Anton Myrer. Great, great story about love and friendship and with characters you'll wish were your friends. I'm assuming you've read the great classics that deal with love, David Copperfield, (Even I fell in love with Agnes, how could he not see it!!??) Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights, and of course the greatest novel ever written: the Kahenstock/MacAfee translation of Les Miserables. If like many of us you read these classics when you were quite young, by all means read them again. Our perception of the world changes in ways we never realize between our 20's and our 40's. I loved them at age 22. At age 48, I am awed by how good they truly are. Oh wait 3 more modern novels about love that really touched me. "The remains of the day"...just a devastating book about love unfulfilled. It's a great movie too. "Snow falling on Cedars." The scene towards the end in the tree still gives me a huge lump in my throat...so powerful... "The horse whisperer" another great book adapted into a really good film. My wife adores Robert Redford so we watch this one like once a year. I don't mind...it's that good. Happy reading!
